Part 1 – In 2011 a Census took place across the United Kingdom collecting data on the ethnic groups of all usual residents in the national parks of England and Wales.  The data collected provides a breakdown of the different ethnic groups of each of the national parks. The numbers of peoples are split between 18 ethnic groups, where some are more populated than others.

The majority of the population across all of the parks is White. This group is split into four sub groups where White British is the largest, followed by Irish, Gypsy/Irish Travellers and other White.  In all parks, the difference in numbers between the White British and the other White groups is quite substantial. For instance, in Dartmoor 95% are White British, 0.4% are Irish, 0.04% are Gypsy/Travellers and 2% are of Other White origin.
