During the DVD clip Larks children centre a practitioner states that they have an open door to the garden policy. (DVD 1, Lark Childrens Centre.) I feel free flow play is good practice as its giving children access to explore the outside world. I feel by allowing children to explore the natural environment it allows children to develop in all the developmental areas. It is important for the children to experience this as not all children are able to experience the outdoor environment at home. Parents/carers may have a busy lifestyle so will travel in a car rather than walking, resulting in the child not getting the outdoor experience needed to extend their language and thinking and to explore sounds, noises and smells.
