Using Johnss (1994) Reflective model I will reflect on mentoring activities with a Health care assistant in my team. I will focus on the aspect of leadership and support of mentoring.
1. Description of the experience
Within a community setting, I was trained in carrying out incontinence assessment and gained positive feedback from Continence advisor, my colleagues and patients, I was happy to help a health care assistant in my team to develop her incontinent assessment skills in this area. In order to maximize the learning opportunities of the placement I set a structured programme (see attached).
I discussed the learning plan with the case load manager and the team so that learning opportunities could be met. The manager organized my work so that we would be allocated any patients with a variety of incontinent problems as well as patient with catheters. I also organized pro…(short extract)
