Mentorship Activity 1 – Reflect on your previous experience of supporting students as a co or associate mentor, or your own experience of being mentored, and analyse your existing knowledge and skills.

For the purpose of this assignment I will be using Johnss (1994) model of structured reflection in order to structure my own experience of being mentored when I was doing my Overseas Nurses Programme in 2012.

1. Description of the experience

I was a senior nurse and a Ward Sister in China for 15 years and I came over to the UK 6 years ago, I was a Health Care Assistant in a community nursing team before I commenced my Overseas Nurses Programme in 2012. My mentor was one of the staff nurses in my team, who used to be a Ward Sister in a Local Hospital until she quit. She undertook her return to practice in 2010 and has been working as a Community Nurse in my team since that time. She has excellent clinical skills and up to date knowledge as well as recent experience of being mentored.
