Making Modern Identities: Exercise Set 2

Due date: The day of the lecture in week 8

This exercise set is comprised of four questions. Each question is based on an essential reading in your book of readings. Please make sure your answers are based on your thoughts about that reading only. (So there is no need to consult any outside sources other than a dictionary if you need one!)
Each question is to be answered separately in approximately 150 words, so your final submission should be approximately 600 words in total, divided into four sections. Please use very few quotes, preferably none. We are interested in your thoughts!

Note:
• You must attach a signed coversheet, which you can find here:
http://www.vu.edu.au/sites/default/files/student-forms/pdfs/college-arts-assignment-cover-sheet.pdf
• You must submit your exercise set TWICE – in hardcopy via your tutor’s pigeonhole and in e-copy via VUCollaborate.
• If you need an extension, make sure you discuss it with your tutor before the due date so that there is time to negotiate a new submission date. For your extension to be considered valid you will need to attach an extension form to your assessment, signed by either your tutor of unit coordinator.
• Please reference fully using the Harvard system and include a bibliography at the end of the exercise set.
• Your task in this exercise set is to share your own reflections on the reading you have done. Please make sure these ideas are all expressed in your own words.
