background information:
A new international advisory committee is being formed with a view to providing information to the united nations on the exploitation of women and the ongoing
international trade in women for slavery purposes. the UN is looking appoint a chairperson and a number of delegates from various countries to sit on the committee.you
have been presented with a short list of candidates for this position of the australian delegate to the committee and asked to assess the suitability of each and make
a recommendation. there is only one position available so you are required to recommend the best candidate from the shortlist.
Leadership Report and Oral Presentation
You will be placed in groups of 2 to 3 students. Each group is required to complete a REPORT and give an ORAL PRESENTATION.
Each group will be presented with a fictitious scenario involving a leadership role that needs to be filled. After careful analysis of the position, you are required
to identify the leadership qualities and personality traits you would be looking for in a potential candidate for the role. These qualities and traits must be drawn
from the OB THEORY presented in your textbook and other high quality sources. See below for more details on CONTENT.
You will also be provided with the names of two or three potential candidates for the position. These candidates are real people. You mustresearch each candidateand
identify which of the required qualities and traits they have demonstrated in their professional careers to date. This section will involve a short biography and
details of their displayed leadership style and personality traits, supported by actual examples found during your research, for each leader. How well does the
candidate fit with the requirements for the position that you identified earlier?You should also discuss the bases of power that can be attributed to each candidate
and whether their political behaviour could be described as legitimate or illegitimate.
Your report and presentation will conclude with a recommendation stating why the candidate that you have selected is the bestcontender.

CONTENT
Your report MUST contain a discussion that addresses the following:
1. A description of the background of your scenario and the role you are intending to fill. Details of the leadership qualities and personality traits would you
be looking for in a potential candidate for the role? These qualities and traits must be drawn from the OB THEORY presented in your textbook. Consideration should be
given to:
• Big Five personality framework;
• Leader behaviours identified in House’s Path-goal theory;
• Charismatic leadership theory;
• Level-5 leaders;
• Transactional/transformational leader characteristics; and
• Authentic leadership.
2. You will also be provided with the names of two or three potential candidates for the position. These candidates are real people. You must research each
candidate and identify which of the required qualities and traits they have demonstrated in their professional careers to date. This section will involve:
• Ashort biography and details of each leader’s displayed leadership style and personality traits, supported by actual examples found during your research.
• How well does the candidate fit with the requirements for the position that you identified earlier?
• You should also discuss the bases of power that can be attributed to each leader and whether their political behaviour could be described as legitimate or

3. Your report and presentation will conclude with a recommendation stating why the candidate that you have selected is the best contender.
You MUST use the OB textbook and a minimum of 2 (two) additional sources of high quality PER GROUP MEMBER. (Groups of three will need to have at least 6 high quality
sources in addition to the textbook.) You may use lesser quality sources to gather information on your leaders, which must be cited however; they will not be counted
as part of the two.
REPORT
You are to prepare a report setting out your research and recommendations. The document must be in REPORT FORMAT.
This means it must contain:

• Apply page numbers: Page 1 comes after your Table of Contents.
• Font style: Times New Roman, 12pt, justified, 1 ½ line spacing.
• Margins: Top/bottom 2.54cm; Left/right 3.17 cm. No page borders.
• Spelling: Australian English language/grammar.
• Writing and grammar must conform to the standards of a professional report. Use appropriate headings. PROOF READ YOUR DOCUMENTATION BEFORE SUBMISSION!
• There is no word limit but the report must contain all of the information presented in your speech, and no more. Your speech must be strictly limited to the
allotted timeframe.
The report must be presented as a single, coherent document. Reports that appear to be disjointed pieces of research thrown together at the last minute will be
heavily penalised as this does not indicate that you have worked as a group.
PRESENTATION
Your presentation will take place during your usual lab/tutorial time. Everyone in your tutorial group will be presenting on the same day. You must attend for the
full class.
Your oral presentation must run for between 20 and 30 minutes. Should you fall short of making the time limit, or exceed it, you will lose 1 mark for every 30 seconds,
or part thereof, that you fall short or exceed.
• You MUST have a PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi – you will lose marks if you do not have one prepared. Please ensure that your presentation works on the
classroom computer prior to the commencement of class. (If you choose to use keynote you may need to adapt it to run on the classroom computer) You slides must
coordinate with and support your presentation.
• You MUST cite all images used in your PowerPoint etc.
• You MUSTENGAGE the class and demonstrate your understanding ofLEADERSHIP, POWER & POLITICS theories.
• This is a professional presentation. How would you present yourself and address your colleagues in a work environment? Would you begin your presentation
