Here are the requirements for the essay due this semester. This essay will be worth 300 points soit will be like taking an exam. The essay will need to begrammatically correct, will need to show you can research a topic, find credible information,explain an idea, and provide a solid opinion on the relevance of the situation at the time and howthis case affects our nation now. Please ask for assistance from the writing center for grammarissues or the librarian if you need assistance finding sources.
Technical Requirements:
- Title page and sources cited page necessary.
- The essay will need to be 5 – 8 pages in length. Title page and sources cited page will be
necessary but do not count toward the 5 -8 pages of text.
- Double spaced with 1” margins all the way around the page.
- You will need to find 4 articles from the databases in the library.
- In text citation will need to be completed with footnotes in the Chicago Turbian method
of citation. Sources cited page will also need to be in Chicago Turbian style.
The essay should be laid out in the following manner:
- Describe the situation that brought about the Supreme Court case.
- Explain the decision for the case. Provide a synopsis of the majority position and the
dissenting position or was the verdict unanimous.
- Describe how this case effected the United States after the decision was made.
- In your opinion, is this decision still effecting the nation? Do you believe the decision
was a good decision or a bad decision? Describe any issues you may have with the
decision or even if this was an issue that needed Supreme Court intervention?
