How much attention should be paid to the views of children themselves on the place of work and school in their lives? How might these views inform wider debates about child labour?

The place of school and work in childrens lives varies depending on where a child is raised in the world.  It is contingent upon how a particular culture views work and school and the degree to which the education of children and their ability to take paid employment are regulated by law.  This makes it a difficult task to apply a singular thought or judgement on whether a child should work and go to school, or perform only one of these options, should they be given the choice….(short extract)
