INSTRUCTIONS
DUE MAY 2, 2017
Your objective for this assignment is to create an overview of the physical design of a hotel/resort in a
location of your choice. You have complete freedom as pertaining to design, aesthetics, and furnishings;
however, your property is required to adhere to the eleven minimum guidelines for going green as
outlined in the American Hotel & Lodging Association (available on BlackBoard). If your project does not
specifically address all of the eleven minimum guidelines, your final score for the project will be reduced
by 25%.
A well-done project will contain the following sections (feel free to use these headings):
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
• Identify the town and state where your property will be located and provide a brief
overview.
• Identify the name of your operation.
• Briefly describe the type of property it will be.
• Briefly describe the service level of the property.
• Mission and vision statements.
2. INTRODUCTION
• Describe in detail why the location waschosen.
• Describe the demographics of town.
• Describe your target demographic.
• Describe why green operations in a hotelare important.
3. TYPE OF PROPERTY
• Identify the type of property that you willbe.
o Provide graphic examples of operating (just Google some high-quality images):
• Furnishings you will use.
• Fixtures in guest rooms.
• Overall design aspiration.
• Describe your start-up costs and your projectedADR.
• Outline your employee reporting pyramid, or chain-of-command.
4. GREEN OPERATIONS
• Address each of the eleven minimum guidelines for green operations as outlined in the
AH&LA handbook.
• Describe the footprint of the property.
• Explain how you will support environmental programs for the community.
• Describe the guest experience and the impact green operations will have, if any.
5. CONCLUSION
• Describe why this property is needed.
• Explain why you will be successful

430 POINTS AVAILABLE
You will submit this paper through the BlackBoard SafeAssign plagiarism tool. You are
allotted 20% similarity. Anything above this percentage will be a percentage reduced from
