Essay Two Prompt

Evaluate the methods that enslaved Africans in the eastern US and Caribbean or Native Americans in the southern US and out west (this includes anywhere from Mexico to California) utilized to either resist enslavement/colonization, or to assimilate to European-style cultures and/orthe laws and customs of US/French/Spanish governments. Why did they choose to resist? To assimilate? What did they gain by resisting and/or assimilating? What did they hope to gain? Were they successful? Why or why not?
