Post-natal depression when viewed from the point of view of the medical model is a disease. When a medical professional listens to the symptoms, he or she can compare them to, … recognised guidelines … and make a diagnosis accordingly. Many medical professional use the medical model as a foundation to their work. Two aspects of this model are a quest to conquer and cure disease and focused on the disease not the whole person.
