This is the instruction sheet for the fourth of five major essays. Please read the instructions very carefully.
1. It will be the Argumentative Essay.
2. For that essay, you need to choose a current, controversial issue and then identify your stand. Watching, reading or
listening to news will be very helpful. Once you find the issue you wish to discuss, plan your support by locating convincing
evidence. This is where your understanding of pathos, ethos, and logos should be useful. Furthermore, in this essay you need to
demonstrate your knowledge of fallacies and the decision to submit a fallacy-free argumentative essay.
3. As soon as you access this instruction sheet, find time to submit the issue that your paper will focus on. Unless you
submit the issue and receive an approval, your argumentative essay will not be accepted.
4. Remember that each writing type has a purpose. When you select your details for the fourth major essay, make sure you find
some purpose, which will guide you in not only selecting the most important details, but also guide you in arranging the details
logically.
5. With your identified purpose in mind, you will decide what goes in each of the paragraphs and the pages of your essay.
6. The essay should be at least six pages. In addition, it should have a cover, an outline page and a works-cited page. It
should be typewritten or computerized. If you use computer, make sure you use Times New Roman 12 pts only.
7. College papers are typed or computerized in double space. For the complete prescribed format, consult the syllabus and your
English textbooks. Otherwise, your professor is available for other related questions.
