The psychodynamic approach to therapy was developed from the work of the late Sigmund Freud in the late 1890*s. This approach is deterministic and free will is not a part of this theory and believes that our behaviour and feelings as adults are rooted in childhood experiences. Freud believed that much of our behaviour is determined by the conscious thoughts and memories etc. The psychodynamic approach to psychology seeks to explain the unconscious mind and the influences of earlier experiences.
