Introduction

This assignment will explain the importance of inclusion and how schools are obliged to carry out inclusive practice.  I will introduce you to a child with special educational needs and give examples of how I, as a teaching assistant ensure she is treated without discrimination to gain the best possible education.

Inclusion is to include all parts to make a whole, this is the same within a school environment.  Inclusive practice means that all children have a right to be included in mainstream education and to participate as fully as possible in a mainstream curriculum.  Schools have a duty to accept a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) if they can cater for that particular childs needs.  schools cannot unlawfully discriminate against pupils because of their sex, race, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation (Disability Act 2010, www.)
