Refurbishment work on hotel (financial budgeting
Project description
the Viridian hotel will undergo rebranding. As this requires extensive work to be done (in comparison to remodelling) a few considerations are needed. As we are dealing with an old building it is expected that its current energy performance is poor. In addition, although it meets the legal standards; it only just complies with the minimum standards.
To truly refurbish the hotel in a sustainable way, one needs to review several (up to date) environmental assessment methods (such as BREEAM)
Furthermore whilst the refurbishment is in progress it is just as essential to ensure that the hotels energy and environmental impacts are not increased but rather improved upon. Accordingly it is vital that a site waste management plan is put in place.
Before refurbishment work commences a review of the hotels current energy performance needs to be completed using the relevant assessment method. Once this is accomplished one may then decide how the refurbishment work will be executed.
