EMA Report: Pay as You Dine (PAYD) in the British Army.

1.0  Executive Summary

This report is about the introduction of Pay as You Dine (PAYD) to soldiers in the British Army which replaces the current Non Pay as You Dine (NPAYD). Institutional development is an evolutional process ranging from different levels and the use of both interventional and historical lenses in this case is important. The long tradition of non pay as you dine needed to be changed so that soldiers have power over what they want to eat and the amount they are ready to pay rather than deducting the money from their salary at source. This kind of institutional development as said by Amarta Sen (1999) is the expansion of human freedom allowing individual purchasing power.
