Curriculum – A really big word encompassing a large amount of resources and planning.
Curriculum – what subjects do you include and how to you go about getting everything into the program?
NAEYC (National Association for Young Children) has curriculum information on the website. PreKindergarten guidelines give us a little insight into the standards applicable to young children in Texas. TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) give an outline to standards for grades K and up. But what does integrated curriculum look like? In this activity you will need to identify your definition of integrated curriculum and explain how you would go about planning the curriculum for a particular topic using an integrated format. Your topic will be Families, referring to PreK guideline, Social Studies VII.A.2. You will need to create a map of integrated curriculum activities for this topic (refer to the example on page 444).I have attached page 444 in the additional materialsYou will place the activities into different centers (refer to the example on page 445).). I have attached page 445 in the additional materialsYou should include at least six centers, and the centers may/may not be different from the centers listed on page 445.
