Drawing upon what you have learned from the ‘Making Social Lives DVD and Learning Companion one, outline how some benefit and others lose on a street that you know.

In this essay I will be looking at Saint John Street in Bridgwater, Somerset. I will be particularly be focusing on how some lose while others benefit on St John Street. This street is in the centre of Bridgwater and is busy and is always full of people both day and night. There are all sorts of different shops, just like City Road. There are small corner shops, a large supermarket called Co Op, hair dressers, takeaways, pubs, houses, flats, garages, a train station, and loads more. These businesses can cause a lot of traffic and a lot of pedestrians in St John Street. The street itself is a long road with 3 junctions using traffic lights. There is a line of parking spaces on one side, this can cause competition for customers as there are a limited amount of spaces. Unfortunately this can upset some of the residents of St John Street as they use the street for parking.
