Define Hypothalamus

The posterior lobe of the pituitary is directly influenced by the central nervous system. Various endocrine glands of the whole body are under the control of the pituitary gland. Pituitary gland is influenced by the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus produces various types of secretion. These secretions cause the release of hormones produced in the pituitary gland. Such secretions which initiate the release of hormones are called releasing hormones. The nomenclature of the releasing hormone (RH) ,synthesized in the hypothalamus , is based on the type of the pituitary hormones released under their influence.
