The term Binge Drinking is used to explain the consumption of an excessive amount of alcohol in a short period of time, which leads to a rapid increase in blood alcohol concentration. The most commonly accepted definition of an excessive amount of alcohol is two times the daily benchmark provided by the government; 3-4 units a day for men and 2-3 for women. Binge Drinking is a habit predominantly found in the 16-24 age range however it occasionally extends into the early 30s. Government studies have revealed that 23% of the adult male population and 9% of the adult female population are Binge Drinkers….(short extract)
