Criminology

Below please find the essay version of the take home final examination. If you have opted to complete this version of the exam, it is due no later than 11:59 P.M. on October 20th, 2015. Below are some additional instructions and information:
Please provide your response to me as a Microsoft Word document. Remember that spelling, punctuation, grammar, essay structure, and APA citation of sources all count in your grade; however, your understanding of the theories and typologies of Criminology are the most important part of your response.
Please review the case study provided below:
—————————— —————————— —————————— ——————-
Johnny B., (Age 17) was recently arrested for illegal possession of an assault weapon. Subsequent review of his criminal record and case file indicates that Mr. B. was previously arrested for possession of a controlled substance, assault, and grand theft auto. Johnny’s mother died when he was very young, and his father has been incarcerated since Johnny was 14.

Johnny was subsequently placed in several foster homes, but ran away from each of them and was frequently pick-up by police for truancy, loitering with a local street gang, and underage drinking. Johnny could face up to 10 years for the illegal weapons possession charge.

Johnny’s attorney has hired you, a well-respected Criminologist to build a profile on his client that could be used in court to explain his client’s behavior and plead for leniency. Accordingly, you are directed to prepare a 1 to 2 page profile that answers the following questions:

a). What broad criminological “school” (i.e., classification) might apply to the concepts discussed in this case study?

b). What specific theorists and theories might you apply to this case study?

c). Why might you apply the theories you mentioned in “b” above?

d). What would your recommended sentence or treatment option be for this case? What Criminological School does your sentence or treatment fit within?
Remember, you should structure your response in the form of an essay, not as a simple “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, etc.
Have fun and please provide your completed essay to me no later than 11:59 P.M. on October 20th!
