Visual Aided Speech
Introduction
You may create an informative presentation on any topic that is either professional or is interesting enough for a college level audience. Do research on the subject, and cite the research sources out loud when you record your presentation. For example, you might lead into a comment by saying, “According to Dr. James Pierce of the State Office of Finance and Budgeting…”
Visual Aided Speech
Speech: Prepare a 5 to 7-miunte speech on an informative topic that uses visual aids and shows research. Develop the accompanying visual aids, and determine the pattern you will use to deliver the information. Be sure to cite your sources of data out loud as you present.
Follow the guidelines presented in your text for using visual aids. Some of these are:
• Avoid using the chalkboard as a visual aid
• Prepare the visual aids in advance
• Make sure the visuals are large enough for the audience to see
• Display the visuals where the audience can see them
• Avoid passing things through the audience while you are speaking
• Display your visual aids only when you are discussing them
• Talk to your audience, not your visual aids
• Explain the visual aids clearly and concisely
• Practice your presentation using your visual aids
• Show a source line on any borrowed images
