For this paper, you must research the Battler of Khe Sanh-Sometimes referred to as the Seige of Khe Sanh-that ran from mid-January 1968 through June 1968. You must provide basic information on the events at Khe Sanh, which, to many people, epitomized the haphazard progress of the war. But more than that, I want you to decide what historians should consider when researching this extended battle. You do not have to judge it thumbs up or thumbs down, nor should just consider the war from the standpoint of the American troops. You do have to know enough to form intelligent opinions. You must do significant research about what happened in Vietnam-and during America-during those months. Then you must then decide which facts support the argument you want to make.
This research paper should present a thesis that a specific, manageable, provable, and contestable. You should analyze and prove your thesis using examples and quotes from a variety of sources.
You need to research and cite from sources, and those sources must be found at the following places:
* Gale Virtual Reference Library, Gale student resources in Context, Gale World History in Context-searching using specific terms (Khe Sanh will work well).
*At least one source must be from a credible website, appropriate for academic use.
*At least one source must be from a documentary film or news report of that battle.
*At least one must reflect the perspective of the so-called “enemy”, someone from North Vietnam. Do not confuse such sources with American allies, the South Vietnamese troops or politicians.
*The paper should not over-rely on one main source for most of the information. Rather, you should use multiple sources and synthesize the information found in them.
Include work cited page.
You must use MLA format for the document, in-test citations, and Work Cited page.
You must integrate quotations and paraphrases using signal phrases and analysis or commentary.
You must sustain your argument, use transitions effectively, and use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
