Review the theories showing how we have deepened our understanding of the role of corrective feedback in language learning over the past 30 years; report key research findings on the role of corrective feedback; discuss the constraints and opportunities in a particular pedagogical context (which you briefly describe) for getting a sufficient quantity and quality of interaction; say how language teaching professionals could benefit from a better understanding of the role of corrective feedback in that context, given the constraints and opportunities it offers.
The assignment should include
• a critical discussion of the underlying theoretical principles;
• a brief review of changes in our understanding of the issue over the past 20 or 30 years;
• a report of the key findings of some of the most recent and important research studies;
• a discussion of its relevance to a particular pedagogical context; and
• a discussion of how current knowledge of the subject can inform second language teaching and learning in that context, including a consideration of how particular conditions operating in that context may be relevant.
