aid, international law, and multilateral organizations in carrying out its policies and resorted much ofthe time to bluster, military force

and financial manipulation.

Chalmers Johnson offersthis brutal criticism of U.S. policy in the 199os, using U.S. policies in

Indonesia, North and South Korea, Japan, and China, as well as U.S. policies like arms sales and JCET to bolster his case. While his
comments on Al Qaeda atthe start ofthe book appear prophetic his dire predictions forAsia (his area of expertise) do not seem to have
