1. Using The Achievement of Desire” by Rodriguez and “College at Risk” by Delbanco, contrast their views on the meaning and purpose of education. How can you account for the differences in their attitudes? Would a liberal approach have made a difference in Rodriguez’s attitudes – why or why not?

2. What is the “hidden curriculum” of Anyon’s title? How is this curriculum taught and what social, cultural, or political purposes does it serve? Compare this curriculum with liberal education that Delbanco wants to see back in the colleges. Can the liberal & economic agendas co-exist in our education systems.

What is a liberal education?
Explain the key arguments that each author presents.
Provide a solution to your chosen topic.
