Struggle for Democracy
Using the references books, ***but mostly from Greenberg and Page (Struggle for Democracy)***to analyze how democratic is the U.S. Constitution. First you must explain Greenberg and Page’s definition of democracy and apply that understanding to the Constitution as historically written but particularly to how it appears today. You are free to do some of your own research aside from looking at Greenberg and Page. However, you must show you’ve read Greenberg and Page and clearly and consistently site any outside research. Be specific, show examples from the Constitution historically and today to illustrate your argument.
B. Makes good use of the readings.
Avoid direct quotation from the texts, paraphrase and summarize using your own words, but give a parenthetical reference using the author?s last name and the page where you have found the information. For example, (Jones, 234) placed just before the period at the end of the appropriate sentence(s). Use more than one of the texts.
C. Has a clear and complete thesis.
This is a sentence that contains the purpose of your essay. It names your subject and makes a statement about the subject. It briefly presents what you will develop in the following paragraphs that constitute the essay.
D. Exhibits organization and coherence.
