Romantic movement of literature

Directions:

1.    What is the Romantic movement of literature?  What are its tenants?  In what is Romanticism in opposition to?  Who were its founders?  Be sure to explain each

question thoroughly, giving reference to the writers and their works.

2.    What is different about the American Romantics (or the Transcendentalists) then their British counterparts?  In answering this question, it might be easiest to

compare someone like Wordsworth to someone like Whitman; however, almost all of the writers and artists that we have read this term portray elements of Romanticism –
