Reaction Paper
For your final reaction paper, you will analyze a AMERICAN film of your choosing. Your analysis will focus on three themes from any of the five themes from the class (race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, and/or ability).
This paper will have a five paragraph structure, similar to your other papers. Your first paragraph should briefly introduce the film youve chosen, explain the “obvious encoding” (main messages) at work in the film, tell your reader what themes you will analyze, and make an argument for your decoding/reading of the film (thesis statement). Your three body paragraphs will each focus on decoding one of your chosen themes and provide and explain examples from the film. Your final paragraph will conclude your paper and summarize your analysis.
