You are a volunteer at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. While bringing a group of visitors up to Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, you hear one of them

say, “ That’s stupid-looking. My three-year-old draws better than that,” and some murmurs of agreement. You decide you want to encourage them to see this work in a new

way. Write your essay as if it were an actual speech or presentation that explains why Picasso’s work is not just inferior or unskilled art, and why it is a highly

significant painting. How did it change art in general? Incorporate your own personal reaction to the painting into your presentation.
