Observational Research

• Psychology in Action: Naturalistic Observational Research in the Dining Hall On October 25, 2012 instead of coming to class, spend that time (75 minutes) in the dining hall or one of the eateries in the student center. Observe others during their meals. Decide ahead of time which behaviors you are going to observe (ex: seat selection, time spent eating, time on the phone, or food choice). Record your observations, maintain confidentiality, and “debrief” anyone who asks you what you are doing. Then write a two page double spaced, in 12pt TimesNewRoman font, sharing your findings, any hypotheses that may provide a better understanding of the behaviors you observed and any connections to concepts discussed in class. Lastly, write about your own reactions to the experience.
