Paper instructions:
In the final piece of your project, the model application, you discuss the case using concepts and ideas from your chosen model. Show that you can apply the essential ideas of the selected model or approach in the case and, where appropriate, discuss issues such as diagnosis, intervention, goals, and termination. A successful paper will show that you understand the main ideas of the approach as well as the underlying assumptions implicit in the model. You may also include some hypothetical sample dialogue from the therapy.
Be sure to stay consistent with your chosen model, and address the following:
•The role of the counselor or therapist from the model or approach selected.
•The theory of change from your model or approach.
•The view of health or pathology of this model or approach.
•Identification of whether your selected model or approach is a strengths-based or deficit model (explain and support your opinion).
•Identification of the target of intervention, supported from the basis of the model or approach selected.
•Description of the approach to diagnosis or assessment of the model or approach selected and its application to the hypothetical case study.
Again, remember to use original sources throughout to support your assertions and conclusions. That means that if, for example, you are discussing Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, you will want to cite the work of the founders (in this case deShazer or Insoo Kim Berg). Support your ideas and opinions with research, text citations, and anecdotes. Examples of primary journals for research and reference include:
•Journal of Family Psychology.

•Family Process.
