Memory and the Holocaust

Memory and the Holocaust

Description:

The Holocaust was one of the most horrific manifestations of human cruelty during the twentieth century. Using examples from the book you have chosen, the selections of Mein Kampf and the war letters by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, analyze the impact of the Holocaust.

Objective:

How were Holocaust victims affected by such atrocity and brutality as described by its survivors—what effect did such experiences have on those who were lost and those who survived? You may want to consider the way that such atrocity and brutality relate to human nature.

You may also want to review this brief movie newsreel on the Nazi Murder Mills (1945) to help you get started.
