AN Integrative Personal Case Study for Managing Student Behavior The following is the course description and Syllabus This course is designed to provide an overview of classroom behavior management. Students observe effective teachers using instructional management strategies. They administer and interpret questionnaires to analyze the classroom environment and identify student needs. They identify strategies to help students meet these needs, to increase motivation, to develop positive peer relationships, and to minimize disruption. PREREQUISITES: EDU 500: Special Education Paraprofessional Training, or PSY 509: Human Development, or PSY 508: Child Development, or PSY 501: Introduction to Psychology.

Learning Objectives: 1. Examine overall PBTC program requirements and procedures. 2. Illustrate and apply their understanding of the Granite State College (GSC) Virtual Library and effective research strategies.. 3. Examine and utilize the American Psychological Association annotation and format requirements. 4. Examine GSC’s policies and procedures regarding academic dishonesty, including plagiarism. 5. Examine and apply the components of systematic teaching. 6. Delineate and evaluate the roles and responsibilities of a special education teacher within the context of a K-12 school to include evaluation, consultation, and case management responsibilities 7. Demonstrate the organization skills needed to plan case management tasks relating to compliance 8. Plan for the effective supervision of para-educators to include communication, meeting schedules, job descriptions, training plan, etc. 9. Examine and apply grade level and/or grade span expectations to a school year calendar of units. 10. Demonstrate the ability to be a reflective learner through continuous self-reflection
