Format (3): Cover page, appearance, layout and length. Students are to follow a Report Style with
headings or sub-headings. A detailed marking guide is included in pages 15-16

Content (6): Demonstration of an understanding of the topic, has a good grasp of the issues related to
the question and has contributed individual thought. There should be a clear and in-depth consideration
with valid points given.
Students must follow the rules listed below:
• Typed with 1.5 spacing
• 12 pt font (Arial)
• Leave a margin of 2.5 cm around all four sides of the page
• Pages to be numbered clearly
• Use correct paragraphing with a double space between paragraphs
• To be presented in a Report Format
• Staple the pages together in the top left hand corner
• Cover page to be included. This can be downloaded from the Moodle
• Referencing method – follow Chicago Referencing Method
• Students to keep a copy of their submitted assignment
(Students are encouraged to attend the Academic Master Series workshop on Referencing methods)
Length of the assignment should be a minimum of 800 words and no more than 1000 words (2 – 4 pages not
including the Reference List and Cover Page)
It is important that you answer the question with some sense of flow. Your points should be valid and
backed up with quotes but the assignment should not be a series of quotes either. You need to use your
own ideas and opinions and be able to use quotations to back up your argument.
Students are reminded that plagiarism is an offence and will not be tolerated.
