Essay Prompt
Select a character of your choice in one of the short stories studied in class. Drawing on the author’s personal experience, write a six
paragraph literary analysis essay that examines how the narrator’s point of view OR the setting of the story affects a character of your
choice. Choose one character in the story and analyze. In choosing your thesis points, select four strong points (Closed thesis format) that
are arguable and relevant to the development of your thesis in the body paragraphs. In each body paragraph, break down each thesis point into
a topic sentence. Analyze each body paragraph using valid citations from the text to support your interpretation of text or argument. Do not
forget to strengthen your citation with a transitional relevant argument that relates to the continuity of your textual analysis within each
body paragraph.
