SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

Congress makes the following findings:

(1) An estimated 1 out of every 3 women
3
throughout the world will be beaten, coerced into
4
sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime.
5
(2) Up to 70 percent of women in some coun-
6
tries report having been victims of domestic violence
7
at some stage in their lives.
8
(3) Sexual violence among adolescents and pre-
9
adolescents is alarmingly high. In 2010, the first na-
10
tionally representative survey of violence against
11
children in Tanzania found that nearly 3 in 10 fe-
12
males and 1 in 7 males experienced sexual violence
13
prior to the age of 18.

(4) The International Men and Gender Equality
15
Survey dataset shows that adult male respondents in
16
6 countries who had experienced violence as children
17
were significantly more likely to report perpetrating
