Implementation of a control system to enable automated manufacture

The paper will be based upon a work project i am doing, this project is integrating a control system within a manufacturing rig. The rig is used for making a material known as AMT (Absorbent Media Tube). the control system that is being used is a Siemens s7-1200 PLC and a Simatic HMI panel, using these systems, they will control 2 metering pumps, 1 AC motor (the pumps and motors are connected to the PLC via frequency inverters); 2 pneumatic actuators and a pneumatic cutter the software used for this application will be Siemens TIA (Totally Integrated Automation).
however i would like critical research between other methods of potential control ending with the above stated as the best solution going forwards.

Please include here a holistic overview of control systems history, and how they are used to control systems; also compare them with each other. as well as stating the project as specified above.
Dissertation methodology / research methodology
Qualitative research will be used as a means of gathering data through experience such as trial and error simulations.
Deductive research is being used as it encompasses a broad spectrum of information like control systems; in turn this allows a great deal of information to be used to apply it to this specific application.
Basic research has been used when looking into control system history as well as manufacturer instructions and guides.
Applied research has been used to concentrate on individual problems and find/use accepted theories/principles for immediate implementation.
some of my ideas above for research, however you may know better.

discussion of what the project involves, contact with me will most likely be required
Findings
there are none yet however the project will be completed no matter what; so the findings may just relate to the initial aim of this dissertation of creating a control system as being completed
Conclusions
conclusions can be drawn on the success of the project which will happen! and about the amount of time spent learning softwares and wiring in order to complete the project, as well as delayed manufacturing of the rig it’s self.
