The goal of creating this case study is to equip students to discuss talent management practices taking external and internal contextual issues into account. The assignment involves the following stages:

Choose a company/organisation from a specific industry/context. This company/organisation will be the focus of your case study.
Give a focused description of contextual factors for the chosen company/organisation (e.g. size, market, relevant stakeholders involved etc.)
Draw on literature and develop arguments for specific talent management practices. Take specific challenges for this company into account by only focusing on one of the following
a. Generational challenges or
b. Globalisation challenges.
What steps have to be taken into considerations to improve talent management practices in this company/organisation?
Do you think that these talent management practices might impact other HR practices? Why/Why not? In what way?
Critically evaluate and discuss implications for both the company/organisation and the industry/context.
Key assessment criteria are:
Multiple levels analysis (e.g. general environment, organizational environment)
The linkages made to relevant concepts, arguments and readings covered in the unit;
The depth and critical nature of the analysis and arguments, whilst arguments must be carefully presented (e.g. considering pros and cons, weighing evidence, considering the strategic/organizational implications of particular decisions);
Quality of recommendations, which must be sound, workable, detailed and justified.
Some key pitfalls regarding the analysis part are: descriptive analysis or analysis merely rehashing a lot of the case facts; limited scope of the analysis; limited or inaccurate linkages made to the unit frameworks and materials. Other pitfalls concerning the recommendations include: recommendations do not link up well to the analysis; they are basic and/or limited in scope; they are not grounded in conceptual / research material.

Formatting

Your assignment has to be typed with a font size 12, Times New Roman, and double spacing. The margin size should be 2.5cm on each side. You must print your assignment double-sided. It must look professional. By professional, I mean a clean and organized assignment (title page, page numbers etc.). You do not need to print your assignment in colour unless you need to indicate a specific issue on a graph etc. There is no need to spend time or money on getting your reports bound etc. Simply stapling it should be sufficient when you return it.

Presentation of report: structure, formatting, clarity of writing, referencing and bibliography.
