Bibliography: You should include at least 3 primary sources and 5-6 secondary sources at a minimum. No encyclopedias or summaries.

Introduction: The first paragraph should introduce the argument.
Argument: Marshall evidence to support the thesis, but don’t simply pile up facts. Indicate why you agree or disagree.
Conclusion: Finish with a bang! Summarize the debate neatly in a paragraph or 2. It should reinforce, in the readers mind, the persuasiveness of the whole argument.
Style: Always write in past tense.
Paragraphs: Each paragraph should contain one major point with advances the argument. Use about 3 or 4 paragraphs to a page.
Quotations: Keep all quotes short, and use as evidence to illustrate the arguments. All quotes must fit smoothly into the text. Acknowledge the source of all direct quotations in a footnote– author, work, page, etc.
Sources: 3 primary sources and 5-6 secondary sources.
