Paper instructions:
One of the core problems in the history of philosophy concerns the good life. For millennia, philosophers have offered distinctive and sometimes conflicting visions. Socrates, for example, famously declared that “the unexamined life is not worth living;” while Aristotle placed a greater emphasis on leading a balanced life in which we pursue what he called the “The Golden Mean.” Nietzsche, on the other hand, recommended that we take risks and “live dangerously.” What is your personal vision of the good life, and how have your past experiences shaped this conception? This will be your paper topic. In critically reflecting on this two-pronged question, you should consider the following:
Your Personal Vision: what would constitute the good life for you? What activities and accomplishments would this life entail, and upon what central values would it be based? Finally, how might someone criticize your conception?

Past experiences: how did you arrive at your current conception of the good life? Has your vision changed or evolved over the years? Were there significant life events or mentors/teachers that helped to shape your view?
