Physical Resources:

What are your space requirements? Will you be using existing space or will you be buying or renting additional space? If so where and for how long and at what cost

including any fit out costs or financing costs?
Will you need to do any additional refurbishment or modifications to existing or new space acquired for the project? How will this be organised and at what cost?
What additional equipment or furniture will be needed? How will it be acquired (purchase, rent or lease) and at what rate for how long?
What additional materials will be needed for your project? How much, how often and at what rate? transport facilities will you need.
What additional IT systems or IT support including hardware, software or web development will be needed and how will it be acquired and at what rate?
How will you work out the cost of additional communication requirements for the project. (Telephone, internet etc). You may need to make some assumptions about what is

already available to you but you still need to work out the usage cost.
What other support will you need for administrative tasks and what will be your needs for for stationery, postage and other administrative items?
What licenses are required to operate your business and what activities will be required to secure them and what will it cost?
Will and interstate, overseas or local travel (taxis, public transport) be required for the project? How much and how often and for whom and at what cost?
What additional transport requirements will be needed for the project and how will they be acquired? Will you have to buy or lease vehicles or will you subcontract or

will you be reimbursing employees or volunteers who use their own cars? If so how many kilometres would be expected to be travelled and at what rate?
What sort of promotion or marketing will be required? What will be required and for how long and who will organise it and at what cost?
What will be required to ensure environmental and legislative requirements and objectives are met?
What will you need to manage any supply chain or currency issues that might arise if your project has an international dimension?
if you are conducting training what physical resources will be needed, for how long and how often?.
Look again at all the tasks you have to complete. Are there any other resource needs you need to quantify?

For this exercise, use one subset of activities that you identified in your program logic model and be prepared to present it to the class. You will need to analyse

each and every activity or task to work out what resources are needed and to estimate what they will cost. You could start by going through this checklist of questions

to help you draw up comprehensive lists of the resources needed.

As a team brainstorm to develop a comprehensive list of the resources required for the tasks as listed in your Gantt chart. Try to quantify and provide specific

details for each resource including cost indications. This needs to be consistent with the project schedule.
Prepare a well-constructed resource list under the following sub-headings (annotated/referenced as appropriate to show calculations and sources of information upon

which estimates were based):
a. Human resources
Design and prepare a table to show a breakdown of how many people will be needed and for how long and with what qualifications or experience. For each person or

category of people indicate on what basis will they be employed (full time or part time employment contract, casual etc) and at what rate of pay. If using

subcontractors instead of or in addition to employees indicate how many and for how long and at what rate they will be paid. Clearly annotate or reference as

appropriate to show calculations and sources of information upon which pay rates and/or contract rates were based.
b. Physical resources
Design and prepare a table to provide a comprehensive list of physical resources needed including premises, furniture, equipment, vehicles, materials etc and on what

basis they will be acquired (purchased, rented, leased etc.). Quantify your requirements for each item in physical terms and provide indication of cost rates. Clearly

annotate or reference as appropriate to show sources of costing information upon which cost rates were based.
