Egyptian children’s story

Egyptian children’s story
Choose the Egyptian society and imagine yourself as an adult in this society. In your paper, you will envision that you are in the position of telling a story to a child who is important to you
as a grandparent might in front of a fire on a cold, dark winter night. Write a creative paper in which you
explain to this child something about how the world works in your society or a lesson that is critical for this
child to understand or learn. You might explain how the needs of humans are met (what we need in order
to live and thrive ? water, shelter, food, love, understanding of our place in the universe) or what the
values of our society are and how they are upheld (what we believe to be ethical or right or normal). You
may use elements from existing tales, narratives, laws, etc. (texts of all types included in this course) but
you want to convey them in your own words and in your own way. So, don?t repeat the tale of Gilgamesh
or Athrahasis but rather use references to it a text or characters in a text, or emphasize a particular part of
it, in your loving effort to ensure that this child, boy or girl, learns what is needed to be happy, productive,
and accepted in whatever social role they will grow into as they age.
You will be graded on your clarity of expression (how you explain these relationships), on your
effectiveness in communicating a believable interaction, on ample and appropriate references to stories
or texts or ideas or characters (whether human or divine) from our course readings, and on adherence to
the formal elements explained here below.
