Critical Thinking
Develop a journal in which you discuss a current or historical figure; you may choose anyone except you or me. Describe why this person would or would not be considered a critical thinker. Your journal should be at least 1 page but no more than 2 or 3 pages long. It should be typed and double-spaced to receive full credit.
To be successful with this journal, you should compose a well-worded and thoughtful introductory paragraph that INCLUDES your current working definition of critical thinking drawn from the text, class discussions, handouts, and any other research you may have done.
Your introductory paragraph should culminate in a thesis statement (conclusion) about the critical / noncritical person. Follow this opening paragraph with body paragraphs that contain support (reasons) why this person is critical / uncritical. Your support must be explicitly tied to your definition. Fully develop each reason with examples and explanations that support your position. A concluding paragraph is appropriate.

The journal will be evaluated for its clarity, thoroughness and how well you incorporate the ideas about critical thinking discussed in class.
