Discussion Board Rules
• You must post at least two posts for each discussion session to receive full credit:
Original posts: Original posts to each discussion session should be a minimum of 300 words. This requirement helps promote writing that is both thorough and yet concise enough to permit other students to read all the posts. First person is allowed in your posts. Original posts will be due by midnight CST on Tuesdays.
Interaction posts: Not everyone has the same opinions, ideas and/or backgrounds; therefore, you are to reply to at least one original thread by your classmates. The interaction post should be at least 150 words. Interaction posts will be due by midnight CST on Thursdays.
• Comments on Posts: Please note that “I like what you said”, “That’s a good comment”, and “I disagree with your comment” in and of themselves do not count as a complete reply. Rather, stating why you liked or disliked the comment, adding additional thoughts or ideas to the original comment, or providing alternative ideas/thoughts when you disagree, count as a reply (interaction post). Courtesy in any disagreement is expected; thus, personal attacks or calling an idea “stupid” are not acceptable and will reduce your grade.
• My role in discussion sessions is that of a facilitator. I will be reading all messages and I will participate in the discussions as appropriate. I may occasionally correct misconceptions and/or redirect conversations that need redirecting. I may also post comments following the completion of discussion indicating my general impressions of the comments and conclusions.
