Step #1: First, go and look up the Greek mythological characters of Odysseus and his wife, Penelope. Go online, to your favorite source. Good bets could be Sparknotes, Wikipedia, or Google BUT you may search elsewhere.
Step #2: Then go read the poem “Odysseus” by W.S. Merwyn and “Penelope” Dorothy Parker in your literature book.
Step #3: Write a paper that explains how these poets portray Odysseus and Penelope–the two mythological characters. How are they alike and how are they different?
For example, you may consider adjective use, rhyme scheme, structure and use of punctuation, or some other poetical device that these poets use.
Quote the poems and your sources as needed. Organize your writing, and include a strong voice and an adequate amount of detail. Please write objectively and avoid the first person point of view. (First person POV is “I” and “me” and “my” writing.) I wasn’t sure how many sources were needed.
