3. What was your stress personality type score (SA 2-4, p. 37) and letter? Should you work at changing it? Explain why or why not.
4. Provide a detailed example of when you and another person experienced the same situation but perceived it differently. Explain which of the six biases affecting perception (as discussed in the text) was responsible for the difference in perception.
5. From the 68 time management techniques presented in SA 4-2 on pg. 101-1-2, list the three most important ones you should be using. Explain how you will implement each technique.
6. Provide two examples of communication barriers you have experienced at work or school. Explain the situation and describe how the barrier could have been overcome. A list of communication barriers can be found in Exhibit 5.6 on page 134.
7. Complete self-assessment 6-3 on page 179, and then discuss the five conflict management styles. Be sure to identify the advantages and disadvantages of your style and indicate whether or not you feel the assessment results are accurate and why/why not.
8. Which leadership theory or model from chapter 7 do you prefer and why? Describe the type of leader you want to be.
9. Complete self-assessment 8-2 on page 244. Reflect on your results and explain how your personal need for achievement, need for power, and need for affiliation affect your motivation, behavior, and performance. How can you use manifest needs theory to motivate others in current or future leadership roles?
10. Describe a situation in which you were resistant to change. Identify the intensity, and focus of the resistance. Which box from the Resistance Matrix (exhibit 12.3 on page 381) describes the resistance?
11. Discuss the various types of diversity you encountered in this class (other than the common factors such as race, religion, etc.). How will the skills you learned regarding cooperation and respect for diverse viewpoints help you outside of this class?
12. Discuss what you learned through working with your team this semester. What contributed to your success or lack of effectiveness? What human relation skills or strategies were most influential for the overall team development and outcomes?
13. Identify human relations skills that you have developed throughout the semester and identify and discuss ones you feel you need to focus on in the future? How will you continue to develop your human relation skills beyond this class?
