General Description:
In this assignment, you will go to one of three websites representing different global organizations (Save the Children, Global Fund for Children, or Global Children’s Movement). After visiting the site, you should describe the organization’s mission and goals (what the organization does) as well as the specific activities/initiatives of the organization. You will also need to describe how and what research would help to support these types of organizations. Finally, you will need to describe what aspects of this organization you would personally support and how this organization is linked to issues in which all Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD) majors should be invested and focused (e.g., overall issues that face all children and adolescents). This assignment should be 4pages in length and is worth 15 points. An APA title and reference page should be included.
Specific Description:
1) First go one of the following websites that focus on global initiatives for children and youth:
a. Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org)
b. Global Fund for Children (www.globalfundforchildren.org)
c. Global Children’s Movement (www.gcmovement.org)
2) Second, complete an analysis of the organization by
a. Describing the mission of the organization and their specific goals
b. Describing the activities/initiatives of the organization (what do they actually do)
c. Describing the volunteer opportunities that the organization has (beyond donating money)
3) Third, describe how you think research fits in with this organization. That is, what research is out there that would help to support the mission or goals of the organization (find one peerreviewed article to support this discussion). In addition, describe what research needs to be done to help the goals of the organization (that does not already exist).
4) Next, evaluate the organization. Using information from steps 1-3, discuss the 3 pros and 3 cons of the organization (be sure to include comments about the look and feel of the website in this evaluation as well as a focus on their goals/activities).
5) Finally, describe what aspects of this organization that you would personally support and be involved in, if you were able. Also you will need to describe what issues that the organization focuses on that should be of interest to all ChAD majors and that face all children and adolescents who are living in this global world.
