Paper Topic: The Question is: In the late 19th century and early 20th century (Instructor specified 1870-1914), it was often said that "the sun never sets on the Union Jack."What does this Quote mean? What does it tell us about the global influence of British culture and society during this time? Here’s my response and I hope I answered the question correctly: The statement means that the British Empire was so large in that it was always day time in one of the British colonies or territories. Because of this Great Britain controlled most aspects of global trade and all the factors that went with it; like slavery, taxes, and other countries economy. They even changed entire populations and what agriculture that region produced. Originally Guiana was completely based on sugarcane production, but when the British took over, they diversified it by investing in rum, pharmaceuticals, publishing, advertising, retail stores, timber, and petroleum. But when things did not go their way, it often leads to disputes. Like in the case of British Guiana and the Venezuela Crisis, stemming from the British now willing to accept the country boundary lines and trying to make it a bigger issue. *please rewrite thesis to make it flow smoother.
