Question 2: In the first module of the course, we discussed the significance of “acceptance of self” as essential to the maintenance of trust. The Basic Values model would suggest that Americans trend toward a Status Achieved (prestige is attained) focus. How will this Basic Value impact how individuals feel about themselves as they cross into an unfamiliar culture where their ability to perform even simple tasks is greatly diminished? (Think this through: this is an important issue!)
